How We Assess Your Ideas: The Innovation Challenge Rubric

To ensure a fair and transparent judging process, all submissions in the online competition will be evaluated using a standardized rubric. This rubric helps us recognize the most creative, impactful, and feasible solutions, while also rewarding clear and professional presentations.

Assessment Criteria

Each idea will be scored across five key criteria:

1. Creativity

o Is the idea highly original and imaginative, or does it follow familiar patterns?

o Excellent ideas show true originality and fresh thinking.

2. Innovation

o Does the solution introduce something new or significantly improve existing approaches?

o Highly innovative entries offer creative solutions to real problems.

3. Feasibility

o Can the idea realistically be implemented with a clear plan?

o The best submissions include practical steps and show how the solution can work in the real world.

4. Impact

o What is the potential for positive health and social impact?

o Strong entries demonstrate clear benefits for people or communities.

5. Presentation Quality

o Is the submission clear, engaging, and professional?

o Well-organized, visually appealing presentations make a strong impression.

Each criterion is scored from 1 (Very Poor) to 5 (Excellent), with detailed descriptions guiding the judges for consistency.

Scoring and Weights

To ensure balanced evaluation, each criterion carries equal weight:

· Creativity: 20%

· Innovation: 20%

· Feasibility: 20%

· Impact: 20%

· Presentation Quality: 20%

Judges will assign scores for each category, and your final score will be a weighted average. This means every aspect of your submission matters

Judging Process

· Each YEAH’s partner will have 1 representative who acts a judge. Therefore, there are 3 judges in total to assess team’s proposals.

· Each team’s idea is reviewed independently by multiple judges.

· Judges use the rubric to score each criterion and provide comments.

· The final scores are combined to determine the overall ranking and from all 3 judges.

Tips for Participants

· Be original: Think beyond the obvious and propose something new.

· Show your impact: Clearly explain how your idea benefits health, society, or the environment.

· Make it practical: Outline how your solution can be implemented.

· Present professionally: Use visuals, clear language, and organized slides or documents.
